As the Gold Coast prepares for the construction of their desalination plant, ACTEW in the ACT is finalising plans for securing Canberra’s water supplies. Unfortunately for Canberra, the fashionable desalination plant option doesn’t seem so great (although that would be one major pipeline and pump station contract!) On a serious note, options on the table include the construction of a new dam, a new pipeline from Angle Crossing as well as a water recycling scheme. A decision on the dam and pipeline construction is imminent.
